Irrigation System Evaluations Assistant

Description: The Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District (RCD) performs irrigation system evaluations throughout San Luis Obispo County’s North Coast and North County area. Irrigation evaluations are a useful tool for agricultural managers to comprehend their irrigation system. The RCD evaluates irrigation systems and provides an irrigation evaluation report with recommendations to improve the efficiency of the irrigation system. In times of drought, these services prove invaluable to agriculturists in the North Coast and North County of San Luis Obispo.
Responsibilities: Work as a team to assist the Conservation Specialist in performing irrigation evaluations employing methods of data collection established by Cal Poly’s Irrigation Training and Research Center (ITRC). Detailed notes and precise calculations are taken in the field, along
with visual observations, to enter into a standard format for reporting purposes.
Requirements: Applicants must have reliable transportation to Templeton and a flexible schedule. The ability to hike uneven terrain, work in inclement weather and adverse conditions is essential. Must be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, knowledge of data
collection and ability to lift 50 pounds. The ideal applicant has experience in irrigation system evaluations utilizing ITRC methods.
