Northern SLO County Producer Forum: Biosolids, Nutrients & Renewable Fuel

Join your local Resource Conservation District (RCD) and MicroBio Engineering for a conversation about the future of biosolids management, nutrient recovery, and renewable fuel production on the Central Coast.

Learn about emerging technologies and our ongoing research project, ask questions, and share your perspective as a local farmer or rancher. Your input will help inform our exploration of potential solutions for San Luis Obispo County and other small communities.

The event will begin with a brief introduction from your local RCD, followed by a presentation from MicroBio Engineering on our U.S. Department of Energy-funded research project. The project is exploring the feasibility of a regional process that could transform wastewater sludge and other wet organic wastes into valuable resources, including renewable fuels and recovered nutrients for potential agricultural use.

Following the presentation, we’ll open the floor for questions, discussion, and community feedback, including perspectives on the potential benefits and concerns surrounding the use of recovered byproducts as agricultural amendments.

This event is free and open to the public. We welcome farmers, ranchers, community members, and anyone interested in the future of waste management and resource recovery on the Central Coast.
