Sustainable Land Initiative

May contain: tree, plant, tree trunk, cow, animal, mammal, cattle, ground, outdoors, nature, and field

On June 15, 2022, the US-LT RCD went live with the Sustainable Land Initiative.  Interested parties can now go to this link to submit an intake form to let our RCD know what are your conservation goals and how we can best meet those goals.  Once our staff has a chance to review the form, we will reach out to you and try to schedule a meeting and/or site-visit to walk through the remainder of the process in an effort to streamline the process to get conservation practices implemented!

Update- August 1, 2022. After only a few months after the launch of the Sustainable Land Initiative, US-LT RCD has already identified over 39 potential projects, a variety of new funding sources, and increasing support from a diverse stakeholder network.

"We will lose the battle against climate impacts if we don’t pick up our speed of action. While ideas rooted in science are important, it is now imperative the focus move from ideas and ambitions to concrete implementation. That begins with executable public processes that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase carbon sequestration." cBrain (2021).

US-LT RCD is partnering with cBrain and other stakeholders to rapidly increase the conservation practices to address climate impacts.  This process will connect local growers with larger mandates and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving overall farm resiliency and productivity.

On December 7th, 2021, US-LT RCD held a kick-off meeting with representatives from agriculture, municipalities, NGOS, and regulatory agencies.  The goals of the kick-off meeting was to engage stakeholders in a discussion and identify critical next steps.
