Request for Bids: Strawberry Canyon Wildfire Prevention and Forest Health Project
This Request for Bids (RFB) pertains to a wildfire prevention and forest health project in Cambria, California, being undertaken by the Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District (hereafter referred as “USLTRCD”). The project consists of vegetation management treatment of 34 acres of land within the Greenspace Land Trust of Cambria’s Strawberry Canyon. Greenspace has been functioning as a non-profit conservation trust since 1988. The work under this contract is funded by a CAL FIRE wildfire prevention grant.
Strawberry Canyon is a 34-acre reserve. The Monterey pine forest on Rancho Marino Reserve (RMR) is also part of the Pico Creek Cambria stand, one of the three natural stands of the species in mainland California and is designated by California Department Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) as a sensitive natural community (CDFW 2022).
This project includes creating 34 acres of fuels reduction via manual and mechanical thinning coupled with construction of vegetation piles for later consumption. Approximately 13 acres of the Northeastern boundary of the Reserve will receive more intensive treatment in an effort to conduct a level of defensible space for residents (refer to map in Section 2.1). USLTRCD and registered professional forester staff will provide project oversight and management on-site.
Interested contractors are invited to submit qualifications in accordance with the requirements of this Request for Bids by Friday, May 30, 2025, at 5:00 pm. Please submit bids by email to Spencer Gorden, Forestry Project Manager, spencer@us-ltrcd.org.
