South Central Coast Eradication Project

This project targets five invasive plant species for region-wide eradication in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Eradication is the gold standard of invasive plant control because it means the threat has been eliminated, Full eradication is more cost effective than ongoing containment.

This project is primarily funded by the Wildlife Conservation Board, with support from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as numerous project partners.

The five species which have been targeted for eradication:

  • Canada Thistle
  • Dalmatian Toadflax
  • Japanese Dodder
  • Sea Lavender
  • Russian Wheatgrass
