What is a SWPPP and when do you need to prepare one? A SWPPP specifies Best Management Practices (BMPs) and is designed to prevent all construction pollutants from moving off site into receiving waters. This plan is needed when a project disturbs one or more acres of soil. These projects are required to obtain coverage under the State Water Resources Quality Control Board General Permit for discharges of stormwater associated with construction activity. Construction activity subject to this permit includes clearing, grading and disturbances to the ground such as stockpiling or excavation.
If you have not dealt with this program yet there is a good chance you will in the future. The US-LT RCD can help. We are qualified to prepare a SWPPP for all applicable projects within SLO County.
